Janice Selbie has both experienced religious trauma and treated patients who have religious trauma. Few people have even heard of religious trauma but Janice will tell you that it is very real and that many people today, need help dealing with it. As a Registered Professional Counsellor, she has worked with many people who are struggling with the destructive effects of religion so she will update us on the status of the syndrome. After Janice's presentation, there will be a Q&A so if you have any questions, she will do her best to answer them. If you are, or have, experienced religious trauma, she can guide you to sources of help. This meeting, however, is just as much for people who have never heard of it as it is for those who have dealt with the trauma.
